Just how risky?
Hi, I have a newbie question, if all can bear with me. I know it says to make a backup
of EQ folder, then run the EQEMU patcher. What are the risks involved with running the EQEMU patcher in the same folder you will connect to live servers with? Is the EQEMU patcher going to modify or add any content in the main EQ folder? Something that Sony will pick up on and ban for? Or is the only reason you make a backup copy of EQ folder, that it saves you an unpatched copy of EQ, that you keep unpatched indefinitely to avoid any issues with new patches making EQEMU unplayable? Lots of questions, I know. Any help is greatly appreciated. |
Yes, were all banned... thats why we play on an emulator...
Use 2 seperate copies to play eqlive and eqemu with.. Dont ever patch the eqemu after you get it working the 1st time.. The risk of using the same one? Only that when the patcher breaks, you're SOL on logging into the emulator... |
actually i patch live and eqemu all the time and never have any problems...until recently. I can logon to the servers good and everything...but logging onto a character sometimes crashes me to desktop :(
|
Yep.. That 'until recently' is the reason you shouldnt patch back and forth...
You should keep 1 copy for each.. If you continue to patch back and forth, it's only a matter of time before eqemu wont work anymore, or if the emu patcher goes down, you're stuck.. |
yeah but sometimes it still works which is the damndest thing too. Oh well shouldnt be TOO long until eqemu is caught up....should it ? lol

It's been 3 months without EQEMU. I think I can wait another 3.
