Help?
 

I have been interested in EQemu for a long time now, but have always had problems when trying to get everything all set up so I can play. I have been reading faq's and peoples questions, and guides all day long. Guess im just not good with it. Is there anyone that can explain to me what needs to be done in order from start to finish? Or even better yet, anyone have an AIM name / email they can give me so that you can give me a walkthrough? I understand this is alot to ask, if you don't got the time; thats fine, but if there is anyone that has been in my position before and figured everything out and would be able to help me I would grealtly appreciate it.

I have been playing EQ since release, but have gotten more bored as time goes on, and just need something exactly like EQemu to make my days less frustrating and be able to just mess around/have fun.
Really excited to hopefully eventualy get everything working and be playing.

If you're just starting now, your first step is to wait for the next release. Your client version is likely incompatible with the eqemu server requirements. The servers are dated to the 12/2002 files, while eqlive has probably patched you since then. I'm sorry that you joined at this inopportune time.

When there is a release that matches eqlive, you will be able to play again.

Can't I just delete all my EQ files, and then reinstall them and then not do the normal patch program? I would really like to get started soon if could get anyone to help me out for an hour over aim =).

Basically, to answer your question about deleting and installing fresh and not patching: it doesn't work. The reasons are outlined in the link in my signature for 1017 error.
