a EQLive server or EQEmu server? EQEmu server could take 2 secs to update or 99999999999999+ years to update it all really depends on who is running the server.. my 4.4 and 5.0DR3 server takes 15 mins to back up the accounts and update the database.. |

I would also like to know an official time or something, i have read somewhere two days, but everyone says "about" - cheers
|
the official time is anywhere from 1 day to 100000 days
that is always the "official" timeframe when people ask. With 5.0 still in the developmental phase I doubt the Devs are too worried about making it so people can login seconds after they create an account. Just be patiend and if you still cant login after a week do a post for help then or go into IRC and ask there. |
ok thanks very much

what are you talking about ? the login server? I dont think that is updated.
Ohhhh i think i unberstand now you mean if you creat a new account your wonder how long it takes before that account become active? |

LE was doing it by hand as he had time to do it, not sure if it got automated reciently. Still takes a couple days from what i have seen from when people open a forum account till when they can play.

ok thanks alot for clarifying that for me, im impressed - really quick support :D

Wouldn't it be relatively simple to integrate the login system and phpbb? From what I understand of reading around, the login server is a MySQL database, as is what phpbb most likely uses, though that does not matter.
Also, another question I have been pondering. I doubt EQ uses the same encryption method which phpbb does, and the php encryption method cannot be reversed. therefore, how do you end up with an account with accurate password for eqemu? That implies, of course, that our passwords are stored unencrypted somewhere.. Not that I care much, but it is still quite fascinating to think about.. |
bumpo that is what is done, however with the loginserver and the web/forums being on 2 different systems we use replication to copy the db to the server local to the LS (LE's box). Saves alot of bandwith that is needed for other things.

alright, cool. thank you for the expedient reply. :)
