Item editor trouble

When I try to edit an item it works great, but when i click save it reloads the database and nothing has been saved, and i have to start all over, how do i get it to save correctly?

how do i manually create a mysql username and password if i accidently closed it when i first ran it, i already tried re-installing it and i tried going to www.mysql.com for help but nothing is...
