That would be a good first step, I agree.. It would definitely make migration to a database block easy. Breaking it out into those sections would also make it alot more easily...

gprof will automaticlly grab the gmon file, you have to specify the binary.. I made the same mistake initially, I assumed it just needed to read the output file...
