For a while I was having a problem with free items, so I made a simple solution (albeit not a perfect one) in SQL:

update items set cost = ( 10 * ( reclevel + hp + ac + mana + 100 ) ) where...

The editor looks very nice, but I keep getting this error when I try to load the spells (or edit them, or do just about anything):

Magelo has a search function for free that I find quite useful. Only thing I think it's missing is the ability to specify the level. Other than that, quite useful.
