Im a systems engineer by trade and my boss gave me the suggestion that i should "get to know perl....be really good at it" so i decided to chose somthing that would make that work more fun!! hehe. Sadly, im learning how much of a learning curve i have to look ahead to just by browsing the site and the wiki. Frankly, Im amazed by how much care and TLC people have put into this emu to make it so simple to setup!
Unfortunatly, im learning that setup is great, but once you get under the hood, the sheer volume of knowledge you have to aquire to be able to get somthing accomplished is overwealming.
IE: making a item. Sounds simple, but once you try getting into it with some of the tools you relize (as a noob who didnt play past velous) how much stuff there is to LEARN about! And lets not even get into fear pathing!!! im still trying to puzzle out where the hell the eq map fear paths are, lol!
Sorry, im sitting here drinking rum and coke and rambling. I do just wanna say thanks for taking the time and making this work for titanium, that was the best decision (i think) you guys could have made!

You just have to "peck away" at it all - Things always seem "overwhelming" to me at first. If you stay with it, you'll be learning/understanding some SQL, PHP, PERL, and even C++, Not that I know a lot, but I sure do know a lot more now, than I did before i got into EQEMU! I've looked at the source enough to where I could make my own changes and compile myself - my problem is, windows and all it's "versions" and compatibilty problems, no matter how hard i tried, I always came up with compile errors. It does compile under Linux very easy, but then I ran into another string of problems mostly with ports and security issues. It seemed to me EQEMU is more "windows oriented" anyways, so I keep a windows machine, just for EQEMU. I Imagine eventually, someone will post a step-by-step Faq on "Compiling EQEMU under Windows for Dummies" Hopefully it will start with how to make a compiler work
