As a relatively noobish noob to Emu myself, I will offer this advice. Understand the concept of "emulator" vs "live". If you want to play EQLive, the cost of membership for a subsciption is very nominal vs the amount of time you would need to invest to bring and Emu up to "live" (which will never happen, since the Emu will always lag behind Live).

Secondly, if you took the time to try the Emulator, you would be amazed how much actually does work, is _very_ playable and enjoyable - as both a standard player in a legit community to a non-legit "everyone can summon/death touch everything" server. My friends and I are long-time veterans of Live, and we love the game through DoN. Yet we find literally hours and hours of non-stop fun and excitement running around as GM's just seeing what works! Cuz it's a lot, and amazing. Get the point? It's amazing.

So before anyone thumbs their nose at Emu because it's not "live", take the hour or two of your life it'll take to set it up, spend the $20 to by Titanium (easier than seeking other methods to connect), and check it out for yourself. The core dev team are not the only ones adding to the Emu. Many community members dedicate hours of their own time to adding content and making things better. Become part of the solution, if you truly want to see an Emu that stands up to Live.

My 2cp.
