Change the sndbnk.eff files and rename them. You might need to recompress them, so chances are high that it might not even work. I remember having to change them because I was editing the soundbank files on my SoundBlaster Live! card and had to edit those a real long time ago.
If it bothers you that much, just use the MP3 player in the game. Personally, I can only stomach the South Karana music so much until I have to load some music.
