There used to be Message boards located in various taverns and inns that you could view messages that other players put up. These I think were global boards for the server so Joe in Kelthin could put up a "WTS FBSS PST" and John in Qeynos could look and see that and then reply if Joe was on that he was interested. This way not everyone was crammed into the EC tunnels when the need to buy stuff. It also worked for Guild recruiting and ect...
(Man I hope thats right, Its been so long, and I started EQ before they got canned but never really used them that much)
