Default Money is power

This is what I've always thought EQ should be.

The one major problem with EQ is that the world is too static, nothing ever changes, the interface needs to improve (they still have not fixed the spellbook so it's not a 640x480 window.. people run games in higher resolutions now!)

The Guides are cool (they are people like you and me) but the GM's are assholes.

So what they are saying: We have made EQ better, added all the features you wanted, but you have to pay for it. A LOT.

$40 is more than my cablemodem service costs.

Bah. They have a large userbase, and pull this kind of nonsense to make more money because they know there's at least that many people that will pay for it.

I've been playing EQ for a few months now. I mean, it is a fun game. $10/mo is doable. But, from looking at other games such as The Dark Ages of Camelot, whew, that game looks kickass.

Eventually, people will move to these other games, because they look better and have better support. EQ was the first on the scene with 3D graphics and such, but as we all know, that only takes you so far. I mean, look what happened to 3DFX.

And yea, if I was rich, I'd pay $40/mo to check it out. But it's really crappy because a lot of people can't pay that. They're sending a message with this: Money is power.
