If you're fresh installing (never had EQ before)
1. Install EQ
2. Change desktop shortcut to include the anti-patch.
3. Change the hosts.txt
4. Run it.

If you're installing a seperate EMU install and have live also installed.
1. rename C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest to C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest-BK
2. insert EQ CD's -- run the "repair" feature.
3. Rename the new EverQuest directory in your sony folder to "EverQuest EMU".
4. Restore your EverQuest-BK to "EverQuest"
5. Create a new shortcut on your desktop to your EverQuest EMU dirrectory with the anti-patch (patchme).
6. Change hosts.txt
7. Play the game.

Note about Vista: If you're running vista and install EverQuest ANYWHERE but your Program Files you will not be able to set the shortcut to `"C:\somewhere\EverQuest\eqgame.exe" patchme` because of its "security" features -- so it is very imparitive if you're using Vista that you install EverQuest somewhere in your Program Files.
Very Informative, 1 question though.

What do you mean when you say

"Change hosts.txt"?
