Maybe you have a multi-core CPU issue that can be resolved by reading the FAQ in my sig. I haven't seen reports of it causing a full crash of the PC though. What Windows are you running?

Most of the time, a crash like that is due to a hardware issue like RAM going bad or CPU/GPU overheating. Though, I have also had issues with some programs like specifically iTunes. Some version of iTunes would actually cause random crashes of my PC and I know other people that had the same exact issue with it, so that is something to consider. If that is your problem, you might be able to uninstall it and see if it corrects your problem. Then, just wait a month or so before adding it back on your PC so hopefully the patch is updated to not crash Windows anymore.
