To remove any confusion about what client versions are compatible with EQEmu, I added the following wiki page just now:

Client Versions:
http://www.eqemulator.net/wiki/wikka...ClientVersions

It has already been explained pretty clearly in the Getting Started Playguide for quite a while exactly which clients are compatible with EQEmu, but this new page should leave little to no doubt. There isn't really a wrong version of SoD as long as it was one purchased from Steam in the last year or so. What might be considered the "wrong" version of SoD from Steam is actually Underfoot, which is currently the only client available from Steam. But, the Underfoot client is actually just as good as SoD in almost every way as long as you can attain the missing files that it needs (which has a page in the Wiki explaining them too). Even with the missing Underfoot files, the client is still completely playable, it just has some messed up models and such here and there, and missing spell descriptions.

In short, as long as the "SoD" is from Steam and not from another source like Amazon, it should be fully supported by EQEmu. That is, until SoE comes out with the next expansion later this year and the Steam version updates again. Then, we will need to do a fair amount of work to get the new client fully caught up to where SoD and UF currently are. At least we can hope that the next client is as good or better than SoD, and if so, that will be pretty awesome.
