The problem with non-legit servers is that they are shortlived. Why? They're simply not fun to play. People don't stick around. There's no challenge, and challenge is the very essence of every game. The challenge is to "win" in whatever way you can, and when everything is given to you freely, the challenge is completely removed. Being a god for a while is entertaining, but eventually, you get bored.

And when even the players don't like it after a reasonably short time, what happens to the host? Who wants to host a server with players that come and go short of a complete altruist?

I know I'd rather host a server where people sticked around than one where they go away faster than they join.
