Yup, you use minilogin and just connect to yourself. It gets boring really fast though, trust me. I thought it would be the coolest thing to play EQ by myself, its fun for all of 2 days.
There just is not the content yet to make playing on your own even close to being fun. It is interesting to see zones you never were high enough to visit in the real game or play with summoning those items you coveted in the game but could not afford and zoning yourself into a High level dungeon.

That being said part of the fun of EQ was the interaction (it was also a drawback at times) so playing solo will get boring.

To make it remotely fun for a single person I think (my opinion) you need to have zones populated, factions implemented (so things attack you), loot drops included. Then a biggie if it can be done in the database is to eliminate downtime as much as possible. Waiting for health or mana to regen would be awful alone.

Other things would come up later like quests and such. Some way to make the content that is intended for large groups to be downsized for solo players, etc.

There is potential but I don't think it was the intention to cater it towards players who want to play by their lonesome but instead is meant to give players alternate/free servers to play on. Although many of them still seem to need many of the items I mentioned above also.

Big thumbs up from me though on what has been done thus far
