I remember gazing at someone wearing a Rubicite breastplate and thinking ... WOW... healing aura...

When the Thulian Claws and an Executioner Axe was 'the shit'. And god forbid you had a Mithril 2hander, you were a god..

I also remember getting my ass handed to me by a dark elf fighter dual wielding SSOY's and thinking about how unfair it was that he had all that time to camp those things and I was having to work for a living! lol.

I remember during halloween when Kithcor got overtaken by the undead, and West Commons was overrun by Dark elves, looting a cool event only sword off a corpse (sucked, but it was special to me)

In the beginning, at the early levels, when there was so much excitement in the new levels, and the simple gains, replacing pathwork/leather armor with banded, and the feeling of walking into a new zone and not knowing what to expect.. That was awesome...

I was one of the 1st to brave it over to Kunark when it came out (I was smart enough to jump ship before getting to the dock in Overthere, and wondering how the hell I was going to get back with my barbarian warrior) , I remember returning to my guild showing off a rusty fer'esh and that other iksar weapon i had ganked off some random mobs, amid the cheers of 'oeeeee and ahhhhhh'

The gains were quick, simple, and came often. When I quit, it was like a job... I still had more fun starting a brand new character than anything, rather than grinding exp with my 60th level druid/40th level warrior, it just got so boring for me...

And I was only a hardcore gamer for about 4 months... The rest of my time on eq was very casual... I really got to hate it when I realized most of the guilds were chock full of elistiest assholes, and you had to group into a good guild to really see anything anyways.
