Ok /deep breath
Kunark is my favorite expansion in that is was extremely well thought out, very extensive, and gave more space to terribly confining smaller world of th original EQ. It also balanced classes out considerably. Monks, which were poorly balanced against other classes originally, were made far more powerful, and some of the Kunark spells were very original, yet not overpowerful. Ya also got a new race, and an increase in the level cap. In my opinion the zones were extremely well designed as well.
Velious was smaller, more elite, and concentrated more on the high-end game. Perhaps not the most noob-friendly stance Verant could have taken, but they added many more quests, and some pretty cool high-end content. The zone design for Sleepers (kill 4th warder, Sleeper wakes up, bye bye warders/primal) was terrible, yet intriguing.
Now, after Velious, EQ designers pretty much sell out in an effort to make all their lil Beta Testing friends (ie Afterlife) happy. In come 12765864 new weapons with monster ratios, and anything that has better than 12AC on it is NO DROP. Lots of content, and a few good ideas implemented poorly, but overall a mistake IMO.
PoP did a lil better by making some items dropable, like Windblade, but still basically following in the footsteps of Luclin.
I dont have LoY. I dont want LoY. I don't want to hear the words "Legacy" and "Ykesha" in the same sentence. Questable, no drop spells. Need i say more?
Now, all of u may think that just cuz an expansion gives ya gear like "Vanazir" or "Blade of War" or "Talisman of vah Kerrath" it kicks ass cuz now ya got 00b3r l33t l3wtz, but to me it's unappealing and makes the game boring.
Oh and btw Bazaar, SOME post-velious spells, SOME AA, PoK, and some of the smaller lil updates were pretty good, but that doesnt make the whole expansion good. And most of it was given to us thru patches anyway, not from the actual expansions.
