I'm a little confused. When is it crashing? And what gives you the impression that it believes you have all of the expansions? If you mean from the server select screen, that's because there's no SOE database for it to look at to see what's registered. You shouldn't need to worry about that. On the emulator, EVERYTHING is available (providing you have it).

With that in mind, the emulator does not verify you have the zone before zoning your character (which I believe EQLive does). So, say you accidentally zoned into Bazaar but you don't even have Luclin. Your character (on the emulator) will still end up in Bazaar but the client will then crash telling you that the zone file could not be found.

You only provided a handful of information and I'm sure anyone who could help you would ask you to give a little more information about your situation/problem. For instance:

How far can you get into the Emulator? Server Select? Character Creation Screen? Can you create a character and appear in Cabilis?

When exactly is the client crashing?

If you can create a character and you actually load into the world, I can't see why you couldn't play with only Kunark. And when you say only the RoK expansion do you mean literally Kunark Only, or the Original EQ/Kunark bundle that was once available? (I can't remember if the old Kunark expansion actually had all the old world zones or not. I didn't this so, so I'll assume it doesn't).

If Kunark only, that certainly limits quite a number of things, like playing on someone else's server, you could only create an Iksar race character. If you're playing on your own server, you'd need to edit your database to have other playable races starting in Kunark. That brings up a ton of additional issues. Faction/Agro? Where can they bank? Where is their GM Trainer? etc. If that were the case, I'd check ebay or someplace where you can probably pick up the original EverQuest for two or three bucks.
