Anyways, I'm not sure how much of the original poster's comment was directed at the devs and how much was directed at individual server ops, but the design goal of the base code is to have it emulate Live as closely as possible. If they started trying to make this deviation and that deviation, the project would most likely stall because they wouldn't be able to come to agreement on various design aspects. At the moment, the design direction is perfectly clear: if Live does it, the base code should do it.
The individual server op has the power to tweak the code, assuming they have a compiler and programming experience. And if you don't find a server that has what you're looking for, you're always free to start your own.
