I've made it a point to re-image my PC at least a couple of times a year. If you're anything like me (try out a lot of stuff) you end up having a lot of crap sitting around in the core Windows directories, drivers, etc., and I almost always notice a significant performance increase afterwards. Besides, it forces me to keep my important crap backed up.
