What port to be opened on minilogin?

I probably should have posted this on the minilogin forum but it seems to be more of a logging into my server kind of thing. I setup a minilogin, and after days of troubleshooting I seem to have my server doing exactly what it should be doing, however when I try to connect on my play computer it says something about not being able to connect and to check my internet connection. I have added my play computers IP to my minilogin server, and after thinking of every problem possible, I think it has to do with unopened ports. Since each time I start the server it says a different port I dont understand what I should have opened. Should I try 5999, and 9000? Are there others to be opened? Im a total server newb and just did my best to follow directions. Can anyone tell me where to go to figure out what ports to open or whatever? Thanks!

Just throwing this out here but did you change your Eq Shortcut to point to:

<PATH TO EVERQUEST DIRECTORY>\eqgame.exe "patchme"

The error message sounds like you are using the regular shortcut which will launch the Patcher but you are not connected to the internet so it is kicking back this error message. Just a thought.

If it's a minlogin Setup, you shouldn't need to open any ports on your router. Your doing everything on lan. The router is an interface between your lan and wan, aka Local area network and wide area network (or Internet). Did you remember to change your play computers eqhost.txt file to point to your minilogin ip and post ? The only thing that might be blocking a port is if you have a firewall on your computers. If you do, turn them off and see if they are blocking the ports.

OMg so I was putting in my local ip instead of my servers and trying to connect to it. Im reinstalling now but it should work great. Thanks to everyone for the advice!
