Default old relations?

i was wondering the other day,

what relationship to the old ethernalquest project at hackersquest does eqemulator have?

did eqemulator come from the initial work at ethernalquest or are they merely parallel siblings of the desire to have an everquest emulation?

I had thought they were seperate. I used ethernalquest for my first sneak peak at running through the empty zones, popping an NPC, and summoning equipment. But attacking, spells, and overal gameplay wasn't available at that time, at least to the level it is today with EqEmu. It was nice to explore the zones that were hard to get to at the time though. Good question, I do not know if a link between the two ever existed.

I have to agree. I don't believe that there really is a relationship at the code. EQEmulator has really evolved through the ages and EthernalQuest has gone.

I think they both were seperate entities. I remember them being nothing alike besides the fact that they emulated eq servers. I had tried both several years ago, back when they both were active, and I was sold on this one because of the lack of stability, features, ect in ethernalquest. Also, I hated their site, which is still the same today as it was then. Quality and dedication go hand in hand, and we see which one is still alive, and which one is dead now.

I could be wrong on this, but oh well, opinions anyway.

I have to agree with everything you said. I mean, EthernalQuest didn't have a great community like this, and that's what really supports an Open Source project.

EQEmu is opensource

HQ was closed source

There was some communication between our Devs and there Dev, however they were coded in separate languages.

Thats really all there is.
