Default Error trying to log into a server. (sad one too.)

Just created my own server everything worked fine however, I keep getting the damned 1017 error when trying to log onto my server. Shouldnt that NOT happen? Hehe.
I do not get that error when trying to log onto any other server, Just my newly created one. Any idea on how to fix this?

reads like a NAT error. Are you running on a LAN using a router or something ? Check the tutorial there if you think it is the case http://www.eqemulator.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4177

Also, what does telnet on port 9000 from your client machine tell ? Do you get the prompt ?

I'd be interested in any result you get, as i get the same error =-)

1017 is a version error. Has nothing to do with NAT.

If you could post your world.exe, and zone.exe outputs and load5zones.bat, loginserver.ini, and db.ini contents we might be able to track down the problem.

1017 seems to be the "something odd happened error"

all this is 0.5.3dr3, client up to date :
i log to other servers from behind a router.
i log to my server in the LAN
others log to my server (same patch date) from the inet through router's NAT

but when i try loging into my server through external ip adresse, i get 1017...

i just thought it could be similar.

Yes, 1017 CAN be a NAT issue, it can also be a version issue. 1017 is basically just a generic error number that says you are NOT connecting for some odd reason. Those just happen to be the two most common...
