Casting Spells on Pets and Lag Issues...

Is the ability to cast buff-type spells on pets not implemented yet? I attempted to cast various spells on my pet while playing as a Shaman and the spell seemed to freeze up at the last second, as if it was not completed. (meaning I cannot open inventory, sit, camp, or do anything that is normally disabled while casting a spell) However, it's not lag related, as I can cast any spell on myself or others without any trouble.

Another question: should I be having lag trouble while hosting my own server on my own computer with only myself being connected to it? (in other words I'm not using my internet connection at all) My ping is constantly jumping and it's about five times more laggy than EQlive is.

When i play on my local machine about half the time the ping counter is in the red doesn't seem to do anything though so I'm assuming that it's broken.
