Default a 1017 error..

im trying to log onto a minilogin server, and i get a 1017 error every time.

my account is on his database ...we've tried all the solutions listed in the forums, and nothing is working.

i also 'have' serverOP status.

...not sure what else to include...

edit: what could cause a computer over a router to be able to 'see' the loging server but not the world server?

Make sure the server /client versions are compatible. If you are current with live your server will have to be at least (from my own experience) 5.7DR2 source code from 5-9 through the 5-15. I'm running 5-9 with all clients patched to live as of the 5-12 patch.

I never get into my server on the first attempt. I get "bounced" as I call it back to the server screen, and my server screen shows 2 lines both saying

Logged in local: Loderunner
Logged in local: Loderunner

When I see this on the server screen I know I'm getting kicked back to the server screen, at which point clicking play again takes me straight in. Not sure why this happens since the two PC's are side by side on a 100 mbit network connection. <shrug>

my 2 cents, hope you glean some value from my ramblings.

the server is DR3, and i am up to date with live. we are connected through a router, but what information i found did not help.

i know the server and client are compatable. i think the problem is along the lines of being blocked by the router.

If that is the case you will have to make sure the router is forwarding the ports to the appropriate PC.

5997 = Login Server
7990-(whatever your highest zone is) = zones
9000 = world

I run a linksys router and its a pretty straightforward setup. Hope that helps some.
