Default Activeperl problems -

Okay I have read every post throughout this damn sit for the following error(s)

The procedure entry point Perl_newXS_flags could not be located in the dynamic link library perl58.dll.

I have tried EVERY single suggested solution to this problem that is on this website/google/teoma/PEQ website/Angelox's website - you name it I tried it.

I have been stuck with this stupid error for nearly 4 days now. I have ran several servers and never had a problem - But whats a server without quests?

I am running Windows XP 64 bit on this comp - I have tried every available binary from 5.6 to the current version. I tried every type, windows(x86) windows 64 bit all of them - same error.

I tried the most common fix apparently is uninstalling/deleting perl folder completely - restart comp and install Activeperl. Yeah never worked for me no matter how I manipulated it -

If you can save this crisis and the future murder of my monitor - You will make my day, believe me. Let me know if anyone out there has found an ACTUAL fix - not a ghetto way to rig it - thanks.

Any clues? - This is stalling the massive amounts of scripts and items i have made in this time of waiting for a fix hah...

EDIT: Also the PEQ forums thread you linked - the links no longer exsist and I googles the actual file and DLed it with no luck - if anyone can compress files and upload So I can DL that version that works - it would be much much appreciated. Thanks

Just checking... have you searched your entire computer for all files with "perl" in their name, as if you have another version of perl hidden away on your machine that can cause no end of frustration.

Are you trying to compile the binaries yourself or just set up a server?

If you downloaded the emulator from http://code.google.com/p/projecteqemu/downloads/list then it will likely use active perl v5.8.9.826 or v5.10.xxx. The version of perl that is required must match the version that was used when the binaries were compiled, that is not optional as far as I know. If you got the compiled binaries from another source then you may have to talk to them about the perl version. Perl x86 is recommended as the x64 version can be a bit more problematic.

If you were compiling the binaries yourself and got that error then it is likely a configuration error. Sometimes it requires addiontional files be made available to the compiler, which can be found here http://www.georgestools.eqemulator.n...u_DevKit20.zip
The compile guide should explain how to use that. I am not even sure that the dev kit is needed anymore but that is a different story.

Given that you are using XP x64 the lack of decent 32-bit emulation could cause problems. That is just something to be mindful of.

Additional tools for various things can be found here: http://www.georgestools.eqemulator.net/

Project EQ had an installer package at one time that made initial setup of a server much easier. I don't even know if it can be downloaded anymore but here is their website url: http://projecteq.net/

Angelox also has a server pack on their site. It can be found here: http://forums.axclassic.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1107

Thanks for the info but I am aware of all that as I have ran several servers. I did not compile my own core this time around as I am a bit rusty - So I Did download the emulator from this website and Have tried every available current and archived version of perl with no luck - Once again thanks but all I need is to fix this dumbass error and move on - Makin me feel like an idiot lol. I may just compile a core/source myself and see how it goes if I have no luck, but not trying to make anything spectacular, just trying to test the flexibility of the emulator some more to see what kind of trickery I can come up with.

Any other suggestions? Thanks

Well good news - I fixed it... how? I dunno hah, I just kept moving files around, uninstalling/reinstalling restarting and somehow it worked - I am using 5.8.826 I believe now, and had to place a perl58.dll in my EQEMU directory in the end - no more errors after the billionth try - thanks to all who tried to help - my monitor survives once more!
