Default House of Thule client

Hey guys, I have been AFK and just now getting back into my server and updating it.

What is the active client now that is being worked on. Is House of Thule going to be the one people are working with ?

I notice they are still pushing out expansions, I even see a Veil of Alaris coming out this month. I am just wondering if maybe I should buy these expansions while they are available ??

The latest client supported by EQEmu is Underfoot. The HoT client on Steam is still the UF client. Also, when they update their downloads for EQ, they update all of them, so if you have SoD, UF, or HoT now, it doesn't matter which one you download, they will all be the UF client as far as EQEmu is concerned. Though, it probably won't be long before they update Steam to have the new VoA client on it. When that happens, everyone who has already bought EQ through Steam should be able to just download it again or just update their folder and they will have the newest client. Though, it will take time to get EQEmu updated for the new one.

I already have UF, so I guess I am okay.

Will the VoA client actually be different ?

How could the UF client be the same for HoT ? I would think the graphics for the HoT zone would not be in there ??

If you plan to play on live it doesn't matter what they give you as the initial download since you will patch and be up to date. They could just give you the patcher and force you to patch the whole client and it wouldn't matter.

If/When they decide to sell VoA on Steam the client may be different or it may stay the same. There's no way to predict what may or may not happen.

I participated in the VoA beta, Alot of changes to the game where made. Not sure how it will affect it becoming apart of the emulator. Tons of UI changes, Spell changes, AA's and so on. I know that the newer the expansions are it seems the more stable they work with the emulator but we will have to see.

If I do not have a live account, which I do not since I have no reason to play on live at the moment can i get the newest files such as thulehouse1, etc ?

Meaning if I buy HoT or newer on Steam will those files be there, or do I need to patch to live to get them ?

The client you download from Steam is the Underfoot client. The download is missing some files that you will need to get from another client. The list is here: http://www.eqemulator.net/wiki/wikka...ssingFilesList

The easiest way to get all the files you need in addition to the newer zone files is to patch a copy of the client to live and use those. If you purchase the client from Steam you will get 30 days free game time as far as I know. If not, you can also use the trial to get the files. There are instructions at the page linked above.
