Need to patch...

Hey,
I recently reformatted my computer and reinstalled EQ Platinum.
I play the Winter's Roar server and I'm pretty sure I need to update
for it to work. So I cannot update right now or else the game will not
work? and it doesn't work if I don't update it aswell.. can I get some
help here?
