Default Ugly disconnects

Maybe its just me, I could be wrong (highly unlikely) but I'm thinking the code for what to do in the case of disconnects needs looked at.

Believe me, I fully appreciate the fact EQEmu is still in beta, and servers are pretty shaky right now.

There are basically 4 ways that EQ seems to be getting hung, at least at my end, often (but not always) forcing me to power-reset...

1) if I log in with a characture that was created in DR3, and the server is now DR4 I get hung when I try to enter the world

2) if I die and I sometimes get hung reloading

3) if for some reason, the zone or server I'm on goes down I get hung

4) Sometimes just zoneing will do this.

Outta curiosity, I tried connecting to just regular websites after I had manged to 'Task Manager' out of the hung EQ. I was not able to connect to the web until I closed and re-opened my ISP connection.

I know I could avoid these problems by:
1) Creating a new charature everytime I looged in.
2) Don't die.
3) Choose to log into only perfect servers that never go down.
4) Don't zone,

But that kinda takes the fun outta the game.

I'm using:
Zoom external 56K modem
WinXP home edition
1.5 GHZ Petium 4 w.
Intel M/B
576MB RAM
if any of this matters.

Maybe this post belongs in the general support area, but it really seems like better disconnect code seems to be the issue. Particulalrly because my connection got messed up, period...

Great work though!

-Jerry

Update: Tried a server with a just updated DB last night (11/06), a huge difference, only got kicked once in @ 2 hours.

If I were to guess, would have to do with every MoB in the zone not chasing you around anymore.
