Getting back to 5.3 from 5.5

Pre 2-18-04 Temporary fix, for those of you who want to go back and play on the 5.3 servers till the 5.5's are more stable.



Things you will need:

1) An original copy of the Everquest game and expansions

2) exe's and dll's from pre 2-18-04 patch (the catch)


KEEP IN MIND! DO NOT ERASE or OVERWRITE YOUR ORIGINAL BACKUPS!


How to do it:

1) Patch fully to EQLive (valid 2-27-04 4:13PM EST, anytime after I cant advise)

2) Find and open your EQ directory 'uifiles\default' folder and remove the following files:

EQUI_CharacterCreate.xml
EQUI_CharacterSelect.xml
EQUI_PlayerWindow.xml

3) Insert your original Everquest Game and perform a 'Repair'

4) After repairing the game successfully copy your 'exe' and 'dll' files from your backup directory to the EQ directory

5) Modify your eqhost.txt file and make your eqgame shortcut as usual for logging into the eqemu

6) Play on 5.3 servers again


Note:

This is what I had to do in my case, I only had the exe's and dll's from my pre 2-18 patch directory ;\ if you have archived your whole EQ directory prior, you could simply avoid doing this by bringing back your whole archived EQ dir
