Default Playing more than one character

I was just curious about what the system requirements would be to play two characters at the same time... I have tried it and I can really only get one of them playable. The second one that loads is pretty much locked up. The system that I'm using now is

AMD 1900
512 Meg DDR 2100
Gforce2 TI 64 Meg DDr
Cable Internet

If someone could tell me where I'm lacking, I would appreciate it. I will eventually get a new computer and I want to know what I need to look for...

Thank you

Big thing is to turn sound off on any extra windows you've started. The sound was the biggest problem to my knowledge.

heh it gets annoying having multiple windows open with sound if it works for you. I always turned it off as well. I belive it helps with memory too.

Check out this program I saw on the Scorpious2k boards.
http://teqim.sourceforge.net/
It says it makes EQ use leess RAM and be able to play in multile copies easier.
