Is it possible to play alone?

I want to play alone on my own computer and not connect to anyone. Is that possible? I am also new and would like a tutorial or guide to set my computer up to play alone... There are alot of guides and alot of different instructions, but I would really like to get up to date instructions. Can anyone please help me?

Look up how to start a minilogin server, thats what ya need.

hmm so im kinda wanting to do the same thing but... will minilogin allow me to play single player? (like without it wanting to check for a connection) so i can play a lil bit of Eq while on roadtrips??

Yep. If your running MiniLogin , EQEmu Server , and EQ client all on the same PC , you would just be connecting to yourself and therefore no need for an internet connection.
