No zone available
Hello,
I just updated from the cavedude pack to 0.7.0-845 version.
The server boots up with no error message. I got the 5 dynamic zones started and felwithea and felwitheb started aswell. I could create a new high elf character but when I try to enter the world I got "That zone is unavailable" error.
When I look on world.exe I see autoboot trying to launch felwithea (61) but nothing more, like if the zone was unable to start...
Is there something I did wrong ?

When you updated, did you read the change log file?
In there, there are SEVERAL Database Changes.
You MUST DO ALL OF THEM starting just above the version you converted from to the version you went to!!!!!
If you did them, you probably missed one, that's all it takes is one!
As Mattmeck would say.. This same problem and solution has been posted SEVERAL Times

Just the 0.7.0. No number after it, so you need to apply ALL of them.

thanks magefeu I had this exact same problem and I had just come on to bitch about it *laffin*
but while I am here can I ask (with the obvious chances that I am going to get harassed by wise-alec or whatever his name is) what is the suggested number of zones to start with? I mean, I know base is 5, but should one try to start with more? would it help?
also, while I **am** going to scan all the posts, **IF** this hasnt been asked, could someone point me to info regarding how to finetune the server now that I finally got it to login?
oh.. just a side note, (because CERTAIN people say it cant be done) I am running Trilogy patched up to current with sony but then altered back down to 6.2 and the server is cavedude's 3.52 patched to the latest 0.7.?840?
tank ya

Depends on the number of players you want to host. If you are alone you can easily run with only the 5 dynamic zones. It will take some time when you are zoning but it should be ok.
I looked at your config on your other post and I think you should be able to run something like 30 to 50 zones. If you want to run more zones you should increase your memory amount. Speeding up your CPU won't help.

ok THAT is the kind of info I have been looking for... thanks again Mage
I figured out why matt was bitching out the other guys about how you CANT run trilogy... I have a backpatch (didnt know there was a terminology for it) so I see why I could update my Trilogy up to current then back it down to 6.2) good good.. sorry for being cynical Mattmeck... Just as a veteran site admin I dont think it is PC to attack your members being critical to them when they have an earnest question.. some people dont have the years it takes to drudge through a forum that SERIOUSLY needs a house-cleaning.

Little amandement
Just one more thing. if you are only runing on dynamic zones you might have troubles with some bosses. I mean on live (not sure here) it took some time before the high end bosses pops up after a server or a zone reboot. So if you need to kill some specific mob you might need to have them poping manualy using a GM command ( I don't know which one actualy but #help should provide you with the exact ingame command )

heh I'll be happy if I can create a character and GO SOMEWHERE... did you follow the stuff up top yet? and see if that fixes your zone problem? I just got the info so I have to wait til I get home to adjust my DB.
hell I am happy to get to the character creation screen after the past year of trying to get this to work

Not yet actulay I am at work and cannot check in live. But as I have other issues I will probably have to reinstall my eqemu from scratch (once again) and try the solution Aramid provided to us.
BTW just a suggestion for the mods. Applying the changelog should be written in the wiki (if it is blame me... :p)

nods... what would be NICE is that if they are going to RELEASE a new package, release the DB with it... a 100mb db is like 6mb (3 if you use WinUHA for your compression agent)
there has been 30 updates to 7.0 since it's inception, I can see what *I* am going to be doing all night tonight.. *sigh*

I edited out a lot of what you said above because I am only going to comment on what I left in your quote.
I USED to think the same thing you do. Then after being active on here for a few months, I can understand WHY he does it. Just stay active for a couple of months and read ALL the post that have the SAME EXACT questions in them most from NEWBIES that DON'T take the time to read or attempt to search. One of the Biggest Questions is answered at the top of the forums. One person even copied eqemu files into his eqclient folder. Yes, it takes time, but that's what these forums are for and why there is a search feature. I've only been here for a few months and I'm getting the way he is too. I read & searched everything when I setup my server and when I had a problem, I read some more and searched some more. I was able to get it up and running without asking. It's ALL here, you just have to find it. It just get's old quick when the questions are repeated constantly. NOT raggin on you guy.. just giving my opinion....

If you don't want to make all those changes and you haven't MODIFIED your database yet, there is a guy named Angelox on these forums that shares his database with a lot of added mobs etc... You could just download his and source it in, then your good to go. Look for his posts in the forums....
Here, I'll go one better. Here's the url to his Website...

ok 2 points,
First, the forums do need a house cleaning, but we never ever delete any post, hence why there is sticky's and the wiki, everything you need is there.
That leads to the second point
The wiki is community run not developer / admin run, you want something added? Something outdated? Fix it.
<<added point>>
Ok so the wiki may be hard to find, people who ask questions that are answered there I always point to there. However when its something answered in a sticky at the top of the forum there posting in there a fucking idiot and dont get any respect from me, same with people who bring illegal activities into this community (backpatches), I wont watch this get shut down because there too cheap to pay $20. If you have them good for you, dont talk about it on these forums.
