Default Another Error 1017

After selecting server, it goes to loading screen then back to login screen. I log back to server select and it says:

Error 1017: Cannot login to Everquest server. You may need to re-run the Update patch. Repeatedly seeing this message indicates loss of connectivity to the Patch Server. This is usually temporary.

I've reloaded titanium fresh probably 3 or 4 times. I'm sure its something simple i'm overlooking, but i can't seem to get a fix.

I'm directly connected to cable modem, no router. Have tried more than one server, still get the same error.

I've tried searching the forum but seems like most issues were due to routers but i'm just straight wired, disabled all firewalls etc. Any suggestions much appreciated.

this is a rather common error and i run into it from time to time. there is no need to re install just continue to keep exiting eq and restarting it... trying to log in 3-5 times per restart. the problem usually goes away after a while of trying to log in and is rather annoying, but at least it doesn't require a reinstall

have you tried logging into other servers? ones with high populations preferred... try logging into one of those, if your still having the same problem after many connection tries id really start to wonder if there was something wrong with your install cds? did you encounter any errors while installing?

Sounds like you aren't using the correct version of EQ. You need a LEGAL copy of EQ Titanium pack. NOT the Trilogy, or any downloaded version of the game.

If you absolutely do have the right version, then make sure you don't have any firewalls on. And, if live in a dorm or are trying to play from work, most likely you are going through a proxy and they are blocking a port needed for eqemu. Not much you can do about it if that is the case.

I've tried relogging into other servers just not as many times as the certain one. I'm using the retail version of Titanium, 5 discs, just got it yesterday from amazon.

Only thing i noticed on install was it seemed to install pretty fast for 5 discs.

I disabled both windows and nvidia firewalls. I'm at home so theres no special security hardware etc.

Well, then there are 2 other things I can think of to check for now. First, what type of internet connection do you have? If it is dialup, then you might need to adjust your datarate. I think you have to create a file to do that, but I don't know the specifics on that one offhand. You can probable search the forums for datarate or something to figure that out. The thing is to make sure you aren't running any P2P or Torrent programs. If something is hogging up your connection, then you will be plagued with connection issues on the emu. The P2P programs are particularly bad about this. If you aren't running them on your own PC, make sure that no one else in the house is. You can probably do a speed test at www.dslreports.com and see what your connection speed is.

You can still run P2P or Torrent programs on your PC if your internet connection is a good one, but you will have to tweak the settings to save some bandwidth for EQ. Also limiting the max number of connections P2P uses helps a TON.

This time i broke a little ground. Deleted eqclient, then switched refresh rate from 0 to 60. After a couple of attempts i actually made it to the character screen by using quick connect, but it looked pretty laggy. Then i tried to maximize screen some and it crashed. Haven't got back to it since.

Not sure if that is really what helped because the game is windowed anyways on my screen. Running full screen gives me eqgame.exe crash error

Are you running a Dual Core CPU or Windows Vista? There are a ton of fixes listed for issues related to those in the link I posted, not just the ones you tried. You should probably try compatibility mode. Also, updating to SP3 is good if you run XP and have a dual core. And if you are running an AMD Dual Core CPU, you will want to get AMD Optimizer and maybe the AMD Driver as well.

Windows XP with AMD X2 3800. Honestly ive tried just about everything listed, all the compatability modes, downloaded the optimizer and driver, cpu throttling etc.

It's gotta be something in client or something thats just jacking it up, like i said probably something very simple im overlooking if none of this stuff is working.
