Damage shield on items not working?

did you buff yourself with a DS spell?

nope it's just an item that i modified to give +5 damage shield, but even though it will list it in the item description, it does nothing at all

you need to buff yourself with actual spell DS
the items DS only acts as modifier to a buffed DS
no DS buff - no modifier
