Default Graphics Engine

First off, I know im dreaming.. (but its nice and sunny here)

Im sure im not the only one thinking it, however i wanted to say it..

Came across this:
http://www.geekologie.com/2012/04/i-...new-cryeng.php

The Cry3 engine..

Then a minute later came across this:
http://www.geekologie.com/2012/01/hy...created-in.php
Someone used Minecraft to recreate Zelda 64..

and one cant help but think "Why the hell isnt it possible to do this with all the old eqmaps?!"

yes yes. its a massive undertaking.. and the map files dont intermix like the old Quake 3 engine does..

But.. it makes the mind spin.. ya know?

BTW: you can download the cry creation tool here..

I fail to see how somebody recreating something in minecraft has any relevance to the CrysisEngine let alone recreating eqmaps in that engine.

The whole point was that fact that remaking the maps / textures of favorite games.

the biggest complaint people have with EQ is not the gameplay... not the aging interface.. but the graphics..

the point was simply the idea of the old EQ game with updated textures would look amazing.. nothing more.
