Default Patchin'

Is anyone else getting an incorrect version after patching? I know that I was an Absolute moronic idiotic weirdo for patching, but what are ya gonna do.

Actually due to bad timing on changes to EQEmu and verants patch, they were only compatable for a few hours :( so if you patched on or after the 20th, you will have to wait for the next EQEmu release before things will work again.

I backed up my EQ directory just before the had the patch before this one (EverQuest.exe is from 10-14-2002) and it worked fine at the time. However, I am now getting an incorrect version error. Any ideas?

The login Server is setup for the 10-16 patch files I believe. You can try minilogin, but other than that I doubt that you will have much luck till a new EQEmu is released.

Question: will there be something that says in bigass bold lettering that says "DON'T PATCH IF YOU HAVE THE EQ UPDATE FROM MM/DD/YYYY" so that if you have a backup, and a patch is coming up, you know when you can backup the current patch? Because I have the patch from 10-14, and there was a patch on 10-16 apparently, and my 10-14 version does not work anymore with the emu (at least as of yesterday.) Needless to say, this doesn't make me happy.. patch came, I backed up, and now I can't play it.

Actually they do post that in the news forum, and on the main page. When it is known! We can't be sure what patches will actually break the EMU. Best guess is when the test server files break the emu then the next patch to live will also, but there may be other changes when they actually patch the live servers. There was a patch (or 2) on 10-20 also. That is the real problem.

The sequence of evnts is something like this:

10-16 patch to live
10-20 EQEmu updated the login server (was there a patch earlier that day that required this update?)
10-20 another patch to live
10-21 another patch to live

As you can see the dev's are trying to code an emulator for a moving target. There isn't always a warning when it will move either! All things considered their doing a good job.

FYI eqemu insn't the only project affected by verant's patches. Take a look at showEQ, Hackersquest, and Macroquest possibly several others They all have similar problems.

Absolutely they are doing a FANTASTIC job with the emu.
I was really enjoying playing around with the last version.
Can't wait for them to come up with the next version. Will be keeping my patching up to date until they get it up and running again.

Thanks for making the EMU and letting the rest of us enjoy your hard work!!!!
