Default More than 4 characters on account crashes client

I have noticed a bizarre bug on my server. If an account makes more than four characters, they will not be able to log into the server without crashing and getting a runtime error. If the fifth character is manually deleted in the database, the problem is resolved and that account can log into the server.

Any ideas what may be causing this issue, or which logs I could post to try and figure this out? A search of the forums did not reveal anyone else with this issue in the past.

At what point does the client crash? Going from Login to World or World to Zone?

If it going from Login to World then there is a fair chance that OP_SendCharInfo has a malformed payload.

EDIT
- Which client / source versions does this occur with?

It crashes in the transition from login to world.

The client I've tried this with is Underfoot, and the source is whatever the latest source in the Windows Server Setup Guide is (sorry that I don't have that exact information on hand)

That's really bizarre. I'll log in to your server and see if I can figure it out for you.

Pretty sure it's related to either the globalload.txt you are using or the character UI file your are distributing. Just posting that here, because the dmp file looks like memory corruption.

I'm still trying to recreate it locally, and can't yet even with your files.

I haven't been able to recreate it either, Secrets.

Another player has encountered a crashing bug today. He cannot create a Dragoon (Paladin) of any race without his client crashing trying to enter the world from the Character Select screen. He can make every other race/class combo, but cannot get any Dragoons into the game. Here is his .dmp file

Update: He was able to resolve this issue by logging off his other account. When he was running just the secondary account, he was able to get the Dragoon into the game.

Edit 2: Could that have been related to running too many clients with the giant GlobalLoad file? I have had as many as 5 accounts running at the same time with no issues, but I use a pretty nice, brand new iMac for play.

Yes, that's certainly the issue, if he's ran out of RAM.

The GlobalLoad you are using gets upwards of 1800 MB of ram for a single client. If he's only got 4 or 6 GB of ram, two accounts would max out his PC.

Check out this tool, it should help you in minimizing GlobalLoad sizes by moving files on a per-zone basis instead of being always loaded:
