Default SUper-Newbie DB Question...

OK, I've been out of the loop on EQEmu for a REALLY long time cause I never could get it to work quite right on my old computer so I gave up. Now I have a new computer and I want to try working with it again and playing around with world building type stuff. Here's my question...

I have the downloads of everything necessary for EQEmu 4.3, but I noticed that the db.sql file is really TINY which leads me to believe that that database doesn't contain much of the world info. So what database files should I use instead/as well, and how do I load them?

Also, are there any good MySQL database management tutorials around that someone could point me to?

Tanks everyone

Check the sticky post in this forum.

Also the files section for EQEmu.

Regardless, make sure you get (or alter) the DB for which ever version of EQEmu your using.

As for DB managment, personally I like MySQL-Front even though it is discontinued. Altenatives are the official MySQL Control Center, or MyFrontend

Mysql-Front, and MyFrontend can be found at http://mysqlfront.venturemedia.de/

MySQL Control Center at http://www.mysql.org

I read the sticky post but it was out of date (by a couple months anyway), and there was a reply saying it needed to be updated but gave no details as to what changes should be made so I wasn't sure about it.

I downloaded Dwarde's databases, sourced the primary database that comes with the EQEmu 4.3 package, then sourced Dwarde's "reloaddb.sql" from the beta 5 package, then sourced the "books.sql" from the items and books package he posted, but I can't get MySQL-Front to import the items text file he included. It gives me the following error:

Error: 1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near .../MySQL/bin/items.txt

Figuring the items from the books.sql file were loaded properly I tried to take a look at the items using EQAdmin 4.6 and got a memory access violation.

What am I doing wrong?
