Mysql stays red light -- HELP PLEASE!

hi there. A couple months ago I was running eqemu servers fine. But i uninstalled eqemu and mysql from this computer. Today I reinstalled MYSQL but the light stays red even when i press the start service button. Im running XP. Any help would.... help
