Bah... .DLL file problem?

Alright, I really have two problems...

1. For some reason, if I don't use EQWindows, and I just use the EQEmu patcher, I get an error that reads,

"patch.exe - Bad Image
The application or DLL C:\WINDOWS\System32\MSVBVM60.DLL is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette."

I really have no clue what that means, I've tried updating and downgrading my Windows XP and stuff, but nothing seems to work. Now, if I pass that, and do use EQWindows, I skip that problem, but get this one:

2. I'm fine logging into the server select screen and what not, but when I select a server to play at, it always gives me an error in which it says, "Error 1017: Could not connect to EverQuest server, you may need to run the update patch again, blah blah blah." I have no clue what's going on, I've tried everything I know I could do, so please try to help, thanks.
