				 Call me an Idiot, only if you know...
 First of all, thank you for making this possible...
 I downloaded, unzipped, and READ how to install this baby. I read again, apparently i missed something. Ok, Followed it step by step. Everything did what it was supposed to do.

 BUT in the readme this line here....
 7) Connect using the login: eqemu and password: eqemu (It is the only account that will with with Minilogin) <---typo will work with

 What the hell is that? It never tells me how to connect. I edited the eqhost.txt file in step 1, but do you want me to run eqgame.exe or everquest.exe. humm maybee eqgame patchme - but that don't work.

 Clarify line #7 for me. Tell me what to do now, the server is running, no errors.. But how to I connect to it?

 As I said, In DOS if I run eqgame.exe patchme it tells me no login servers are available..

 Mind you, I am trying to connect locally using the minilogin..

 Smack me , call me your bitch, just tell me how to connect, and maybee fix that Readme file.

				 fixed
 Took about 4 times after the server has been up and running, but running eqgame.exe patchme found the server.
 Now the 10017 error. and Yes I'm in XP. followed the steps to disable the firewall per the stickey thread. Mine was already disabled.

 I can't even get to the player creation screen, without being booted.

 This may be all wolf cries, and I'm still researching on your Forum, BUT, Your hearing from a first time EQEMU user. and a Network Engineer.

 Seems to me that the world can't connect to the login server after being booted. XP bug maybee of a loopback? or reading files backwards, dunno yet.

 The Readme needs to be Fixed...

 Hope we all learn something.

 I'll see if I can help.
I know you said you already modified your eqhost.txt , but just to make sure, if you want to connect locally, it should look like this:
[Registration Servers] {
 "localhost:5999"
 }
 [Login Servers]
 {
 "localhost:5999"
 }

Also, just to confirm everything is as it should be, you need to have mySQL installed and an "eq" database set up (which needs to include the eqemu/eqemu account).

Next, you need to have db.ini pointing to localhost, so it should look like this:
[Database] host=localhost
 user=your_username
 password=your_password
 database=eq

Your database.ini file needs to look like this:
[LoginServer] loginserver=localhost
 worldname=Your server name
 locked=false
 account=
 password=
 worldaddress=localhost
 loginport=5999

Lastly, your Boot5zones file needs to be pointing towards the localhost (which it does by default).

Now you'd need to first run Minilogin.exe , followed by world.exe , lastly followed by Boot5zones.bat (or Boot5zones.Win9x.bat ). At this point, your server is set up and ready for you to connect.

To connect, you'd need to either use EQW (as described in the readme) or eqgame.exe patchme . The important thing is to make sure EQ does NOT patch, because it will overwrite your modified eqhost.txt . Log in using username eqemu and password eqemu (actually, you don't really need to use that, because minilogin passes that to the worldserver regardless, so you could just type gibberish).

I hope this helps you.

				 Hiyas
 ZeroOne, Im just posting to show how difficult it is for a Newbie to follow this Readme.txt

 By the way, I looked at your site, You have alot of good info listed, And you actually inspired me to assit in Emulation, thanks bro.

 Here is how I got to my char selection from my last post. I read thru the message boards and found that there is a EQW.zip file,

 I unzipped it and ran the EQW.exe. it launches EQ in a window.
 In Win XP It gave me a report to Microsoft error. I declined.

 And read more on the Message boards, I noticed the Admin here says to reduce your Color to 16bit. I did that.

 I reran EQW.exe. - I get to player creation screen. - I had to log out to post this, lets see if I log into world, WOOT =)

 Okay i fixed the typo but i cant see how this would cause you to set it up right. most of the minilogin steps were "follow part blabla step blabla" because i didnt want to type everything again.
	Quote:

		| 1) Follow part 1 but edit eqhost.txt to say:

 [Registration Servers]
 {
 "localhost:5999"
 }
 [Login Servers]
 {
 "localhost:5999"
 }

 | This means do the following:

	Quote:

		| Part 1: Setting EQ up to work with the emulator.

 1) Patch to the current version of Everquest by running "Everquest" on your desktop or by running Everquest.exe in your EQ directory.

 2) Download EQW 2.21 from http://eqw.eqhackers.com/

 3) Extract eqw.zip into your Everquest directory. It would also be a good idea to create a shortcut of EQW.exe on your desktop.

 **NOTE: EQW requires your desktop be set to 16 bit color mode. If EQW doesnt work, try using a different
 color setting or desktop resolution.

 4) Open eqhost.txt in your EQ directory and change it to say this (use copy/paste):

 [Registration Servers]
 {
 "eqlogin.eqemu.org:5999"
 }
 [Login Servers]
 {
 "eqlogin.eqemu.org:5999"
 }

 | but change eqemu.org:5999 to say localhost. how hard is this???

 Ohh i see what your saying now. Most people try to have the real experience first (before using Minilogin). If you would have mastered the real Loginserver setup you would know you run EQW.
	Quote:

		| 3) Run eqw.exe (or the shortcut I told you to make).

 4) Click connect and enter your Login and Password for the EQemu Loginserver (You can register one for free at http://eqemu.org/login )

 Make your character and when your done click Enter World.

 If you want to flag your account, click Start, Run and type "command" without the quotes and hit enter.

 Type c:\eqemu\world.exe flag accountname status#

 accountname will be the account name you made at eqemu.org/login

 this will flag your account with the status listed below.

 Status Listing: 0= Normal, 10= PU, 80= Quest Troupe, 100= GM, 101= GM-Events, 150= LGM, 200= Serverop (All commands)

				 the only confusion
 The only confusion that I really had was #7 where it says to run the login... The wording used, Run the login.. I was like OK< is there a login.exe file in the EQEMU directory?
 It never specifically told me to download and run EQW.. and change to 16bit colors

 After reading thru the message boards I found all my answers, but I just think that in step #7 it should be more clear on how to connect running eqgame.exe patchme or download and run EQW.exe

 This Emulator is awesome!!.
