Default Wide screen monitor advice?

I just got a wide screen monitor.
Native resolution is 2048 x 1152
I can't run the game like that, it just crashes.
So i've set Window'd mode in the eqclient.ini
Which works fine.
Except i know i've seen screenshots of people playing wide screen.
Tried putting my resolution down to 1440 x 900 but it crashes when i click on the executable.
Anyway, any advice?
Things i could try?

Try using WinEQ2.. Its pretty good at sorting out that kind of problem.

I've got a similar issue with my laptop, which is widescreen. I set it to windowed mode and enter the game. Once I've logged in with my character I hit Alt-Enter to go full screen. The game plays just fine like that in my native laptop res. Then, before I camp out for the day, I'll go back to windowed mode (Alt-Enter) then camp out. Otherwise I have to modify the ini before each session.

Annoying, yes. But once I'm in everything is fine!
