Default Windows Source and MySql 5 Binaries

After thinking it over for a while now and with the release of the MySql 5 compatable source, I have decided to start posting some of the latest source and binaries, setup and tested to work on Windows with Visual Studio 2003 and 2005 using MySql 5, on my website.

I know that the source is compatable with MySql 5 however since the Developers are all still using MySql 4 the binaries are not compatable with the MySql 5 client unless you build them from the source yourself. Also, as a side effect of the developers doing most of their development on Linux the Windows or Visual Studio Project files are not always 100% up to date and require a little tweaking in order to get them to build.

I will start letting the developers know when I find such discrepancies; however, I think it will be good to have someone that is testing the source out and building it on Windows on a regular basis.

You can download the latest source and binaries from here:

I for one am pleased. Thanks.

Out of curosity, you've run these from scratch with MySQL 5.0 and had no problems. I'm encountering problems with the 'condition' column.

Version 801 had a fix for the condition column changing it to _condition in the database and code.

Yep plus the fixes to the account and character_ tables as well as the playercorpse tables posted in the changelog and on the development board but from scratch they work fine... Im personally trying to find a workaround fix for the group chat leader bug...

You have compiled source for work with mysql 5 and you share this ?
The official release support only 4.X ? or now mysql 5.0 ?
I'm little lost with your message ! If you can make my mind more clear,
I would be enormously grateful to you.

The devs made all the necessary changes to officially support MySql 5; however, they are still using MySql 4 themselves and are compiling against the MySql 4 include and header files so that the precompiled binaries do not work with MySql 5. Also, another problem is that everytime I have to make a few minor changes to the source in order to get it to compile on Windows (Such as adding perl_perlpacket.cpp and perlpacket.cpp to the zone project when compiling with Perl Support.) so I post the source set up and tested to compile under windows VS 2003 and VS 2005.

All I am doing is compiling the Source under windows against MySql 5 then posting the Binaries and Source for others to download.

I hope it's the right question to ask - but specifically which versions of MySql 5 and Perl should we be installing?
