Default If you purged non-activated accounts...big mistake

for probably 3 or 4 weeks (and yes i posted this when it occurred), new accounts created with eqemu were NOT being sent the activation email. Theres no question about it, the emails were simply not being sent out, therefore people had no way to activate their accounts with the forums (but could still use their name/pass to log in and play on eqemu)

now that the database was purged of all non-activated accounts, 30+ people are not going to have accounts anymore because the website was broken and not sending out emails, and they were never warned about a possible purge.

i hope it gets fixed, or i hope that im wrong and this wasnt the problem and its simply something else that will have an easier solution.

Not sure if this is happening to everyone. My brother signed on about 2 weeks ago and he received his confirmation. Not saying that people aren't getting them, just that I know that at least some are going through.

EQEmu forums get at least 50 new members a day. Look at the bottom, we have around 35k members. That was 45k yesterday.

How many people do you see on all the servers, combined. Maybe 100 tops, if you catch it at a good time?

As for the e-mails - a lot of free e-mail providers are banned. And because of the number of new accounts a day, I'm guessing not all e-mails are sent out. If you signup and don't receive an e-mail try signing up again with a different name. I would suggest you don't get an uber l337 level 50 warrior on GW only to find out you get purged the next week.

well what im saying is this:

i signed up about 3-4 weeks ago, and got my confirmation email

i had two friends sign up, and they BOTH didnt get their emails, so i posted about it but it was never adresed. I assumed it was OK for them to keep playing because they were able to log into the game using the info they created

we ALL used aol accounts, but only I got my email confirmation

so now its a problem because its emerging a month later, and we had no idea anything was even wrong

hopefully there can be a way for new emails to be sent out to everyone, requiring them to confirm within the next 2 weeks THEN they get purged from the database..at least give a warning!

To set everyone straight:

ALL emails were sent out properly. If you didnt receive yours then you have one of the following problems on YOUR end:

1. You have a spam blocker that deleted it.

2. Your ISP has a spam blocker that deleted it, some ISPs like roadrunner have spam blockers they dont tell you about.

3. You typed in the wrong email address.

4. You dont have your email settings setup correctly.

Those are the only 4 I can think of, but the problem IS on YOUR end. I have logs of every email that was sent out and they were sent out.
