They just represent post-count, 1 for 100, 2 for 200, 3 for 400 etc. I have 23 though because I'm sexy.

Yes, Monrezz is right... But also notice everytime a new butt is filled, you get a new title also... Which is why SOME people just post any ole' thing on here to get their post count up, to look like somebody.... <smile>

This just might be the strangest topic here...
Anyways if you click and find out the source of the butts/nuts....
It is....
They made these as a rank system. When you design forums, they are designed to show your rank and participation in the forums. Once you have posted to a certain limit you recieve a new rank (if they choose to make one) and a new "RANK" image. EQEMU made their own "BUMS" <--- a.k.a. butts. To show a new rank every 100 posts. I have made my own PHPBB2 forums before so therefore I know what its like. They can also choose special ranks with their own special images also. If you get banned or they choose a rank without an image then it will show nothing but a rank name. They really do this as a bunishment for those who abuse the posting. Such as spamming or flaming in the posts. (basically just not following the rules).
Here are the ranks where you get the rank images taken away...

Banned for sheer stupidity

BTW, the butts represents too much time on your hands... if you get the joke their trying to represent, it's that your sitting on your ass so much posting all those posts... then it eventually turns red...
