Default MySQL confusion

I just downloaded an 11mb, mysql, i believe it is the latest version, and my winzip opened it weird, there are like hundreds of files that came with it and i do not know where to start, i;ve done the emu before and deleted it then i got bored and am now trying to get it working again, last time mysql came with fewer files and was much easier to understand.

can someone please help me so i can get started

Thanks,

JC
