Default Just a player, no server involved [1017 error]

Apologies in advance if my question has been answered before, but I'm not having any luck finding it by searching the board. The help with 1017 errors seems to be mainly for people running servers and I'm more interested in playing on the current servers.

Problem: I've set up everything exactly how the Readme suggested for players, using EQW (the latest version) and updated the eqhost.txt with the one from Eqemu's site. However, when I manage to login, get to the server select screen and try to connect to -any- server, I get the this error [see image below]...

I'm using Windows ME and have patched Everquest up fully. I've restarted my PC numerous times and it still comes up with the same problem. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your time.

Hi there,

You said you patched fully...that could be the problem in itself. EQEmu doesn't quite support the full version yet.s

On http://eqemu.net look at Khoung's news post Come Play / Join Us!!.

That should help

Thanks, that's got me to the loading screen but as soon as that finished I get "YOU HAVE BEEN DISCONNECTED" in large bold white letters, even though my connection is still on and everything seems fine outside of EQ.

I mentioned this in the channel and people suggest that it's because I use a dial up... is that a big deal? If so, are there any servers that don't require cable modem to play?
