Default Win2k and two Network Cards? - probs

i am trying to creat a server with two pcs using dsl and cable. this requires having another set of network cards for the connection between the pcs since the other network cards are going straight out.

that being said. i have windows 2000 s3. and four 3com network cards. this is the problem i install the first set and get on the net fine. on both the dsl and cable pcs. but when i install the seccond set the pcs get confused which to use for the internet. both network card lights flash when i try to bring up a webpage, it wont connect, the light still blink on both nics showing it is trying to use both. if I let them assign the IPs automaticcaly i can get on the net, but i need to specify and ip for eqemu for the conection between the two pcs.

another thing is if i disable the seccond set of network cards betwen the pcs then i can get on the net right away. and reenabling them i still am ok. but the pcs will not talk.

i setup as follows

PC1------------>cable
/\
|
|
|
\/
PC2------------>dsl

pc1-cable

NIC for cable
set ip auto

NIC to other pc
ip 192.168.0.2
gateway 192.168.0.1

pc2-dsl

NIC dsl
ip 192.168.0.3
gateway 192.168.0.1

NIC to other pc
ip 192.168.0.4
gateway 192.168.0.1

i have tried removing everything and reinstalling them, i am using the latest drivers. how can i get windows 2k to use the right nic for the modems and the other to talk to the other pc? there isnt a heck of a lot of setting I can change what am i doing wrong, is there a trick to this.

Thanks

Default 2 NICS and other adventures

Ok i got two network cards working but i have to first disable the network cards that dont go out to the dsl and cable modems. then conect to the internet then re-enable them.

i have EQEMU running like such

pc1-nic1----------->cable (world server)ip for LoginServer.ini
|
nic2
/|\
|
|ip for database (db.ini)
\|/
nic3
|
Pc2- nic4------------>DSL (zone server)ip for zone server ip out

people actually loggin in and going link dead less and it seems to work many cant get in but who knows at least it seems to work for some.

ill have both cable and dsl for a few weeks pretty cool setup

i would like to try

pc1----------------------------------------------ip for world
/|\ | |
| | |
| ip for database (db.ini) |router|---------DSL------>
| | |
\|/ | |
pc2----------------------------------------------ip for zones

want to try this because oviously not to save bandwith but to divide the tasks off one pc that way only one pc has to do the world functions. for some reason world and zones seem to fight.

ok maybe its just bandwitdh but when i lose the cable modem because its just a trail promotional thing ill try it that way.
